Organizing Your Files

Just like any closet, file cabinet, or book bag, your computer can become cluttered and disorganized. Some simple planning ahead of time, however, can save you time and help you maximize your resources!

In order to begin organizing your files, go to File Manager.

Next, open your S: drive so that you can see all the files that you currently have in your directory.

Next, go through and look at each file to see if there are any you might want to delete.

To delete a single file: highlight the file and click on the delete key. A dialogue box will ask you if you want to delete, say "yes."

To delete more than one sequential file at a time: hold down the SHIFT key and click the first and last file you wish to delete. This will highlight the selected files. Once complete, press the delete key.

To delete several files that are not sequential: hold the CONTROL key and click on the files you wish to delete. Once complete, press the delete key.

Now you are ready to organize your files! Think of different categories you might want to store files in such as: pictures, units, classes, presentations, etc.

To create a file, go to FILE and click on CREATE DIRECTORY.

Give the directory a name, like the ones suggested above.

Once completed, simply highlight the files you wish to "file" in that directory and "drag" them to the appropriate folders.
