Professional Growth in DuPage High School District 88

DuPage High School District 88 values professional growth for all our staff members. As part of compensation and fringe benefits, District 88 offers tuition reimbursement and/or salary schedule advancement.

If you are considering taking college/university courses for salary scale advancement and/or tuition reimbursement, it is highly encouraged to consult the contract references below for specific information.

District 88 also offers Internal University (IU) credit (1) for salary advancement for courses that acquire 15 seat hours and are in areas of need as identified by the district.

Currently, courses and workshops that focus on differentiation of instruction, literacy strategies, standards-aligned curriculum and assessment, cultural diversity, and student academic and behavior interventions are offered for Internal University credit. No pre-approval is necessary for Internal University credit, unless you are seeking reimbursement for outside college credit.

 

Forms and Steps

STEP 1. All college courses for reimbursement and/or salary advancement MUST be pre-approved by the Professional Growth Committee. The committee is comprised of teachers and administrators.  The "REQUEST FOR PRE-APPROVAL OF COLLEGE COURSE WORK CREDIT" form must be filled out completely with the appropriate documentation attached. All paperwork must be submitted to the Office of Curriculum and Learning in a timely fashion prior to the next meeting date of the committee.

STEP 2. Once the coursework has been pre-approved and completed, the following form and its required documentation must be submitted to the Office of Curriculum and Learning in order to expedite the reimbursement process.

"REQUEST FOR TUITION REIMBURSEMENT" Form

IMPORTANT! This form requires three documentation items in order to be accepted for processing:

  • A copy of pre-approval form from Professional Growth Committee for course/program.
  • Copy of bill/payment receipt reflecting tuition cost /outreach fees
  • Sealed original transcript from the college/university reflecting a grade of “A” or “B”.
Please note: Books and supplies for courses are NOT eligible for reimbursement. Failure to submit the following documentation may result in delay of processing reimbursement.
 

STEP 3. When all paperwork has been verified and processed, checks for reimbursement will be issued by the Business Office and sent to the buildings to be placed in your mailbox.

All salary scale advancement credit will be applied by the Personnel Office after the tuition reimbursement process has been completed.

Please fill out the following form and return it to the Personnel Office if you believe that you would change scales on the salary schedule.
