Take Notes on Note Cards

Follow any specific directions your teacher may have.  Careful note taking will result in a paper that almost writes itself. These notes are from the resources (books, periodicals, etc.).

The key to good notes is to keep it simple - only one complete, clear idea per card- and be sure to complete the reference information so that you can review it later if you want additional information. Be sure to put the specific page number from the book you are using on each note card.

All note cards need the following:
1. Label (indicating its subject)
2. Source Letter - taken from the source cards (Source card: Author/title from the source you are using)
3. Notes (information important to your paper)
4. Number your note cards in sequence
5. Note the pages that you are using from the specific source you are quoting

1.  Label:                                             2.        Source Letter:

3.  Write your notes:

4.  Note Card #                                                                       5.  Page #
