Pre Reading Strategy
THINK – PAIR – SHARE
Clock
Buddies
Overview:
During a Think-Pair-Share every student becomes an active
participant. It works well as
a pre-reading activity, as a problem-solving strategy, as a break in a
lecture, or as a follow-up activity.
Steps:
1. Teacher begins by suggesting a topic or asking a question.
2.
Students
“think” and write down what they know or have learned about a
particular topic.
3.
Then
have them “pair” with another student or with a small group of
students and share their ideas.
4.
Conclude
with a whole-class “share” discussion.
5.
Use
Think-Pair-Share in place of brainstorming
6.
Use
Think-Pair-Share to prepare students for writing
